Access via Sarson Street, w/c 26 July
Leicestershire County Council are due to undertake carriageway reconstruction works on Sarson Street and the section of Orchard Estate which leads to the school gates, from Monday 26 July (for approximately three days – weather permitting). Access to the rear car park will be heavily restricted during the works particularly when the actual surfacing materials are being laid.
A temporary prohibition of parking order will be in force along Sarson Street during the working day (approximately 7am – 5pm) in order to keep the road clear of vehicles. Signs will be erected along the street before the works start detailing this.

Academy Status The new government has been quick to promote its plans to establish academies and encourage interest from schools. I have found it difficult to gather detailed information about the proposals and there are many questions about the implications of a school becoming an academy which have not yet been answered. In the interests of gaining more information (for example about possible additional funding) in common with many other head teachers I registered via a simple form on the Department for Education (DfE) website. Yesterday I received an email from the DfE informing me that this list is to be published under a freedom of information request and that Mr Gove is suggesting that the schools on the list are strongly in favour of becoming academies. Whilst that may be the case with some, most, I believe have registered only to glean more information.
Rawlins has not considered becoming an academy. When detailed and reliable information is available, the leadership team and the governors will debate whether there is any interest at all in giving academy status further consideration.

Examination timetable The main examination season has now arrived and we have issued personal timetables to all students with subjects, rooms and seat numbers. It is very important that students and parents read through this information together to check that all the information is correct and that students understand when and where they need to be. We will be organising a full and extended study programme for students. Timetables/further information is available to download from the Parents Page.
