Stride welcomes students aged 11 to 19 with moderate learning difficulties from all over Leicestershire. Students benefit from integrated and social experiences within the      college and in the local community. Stride prides itself on its ethics of learning independence, integration and inclusion within the college.

Stride is unique in Leicestershire and offers a secure base from which students can access the challenges of appropriate inclusion.

Regular integration and inclusion comes in the form of coaching groups where every morning the students will register with their coach and spend 20 minutes with their    mainstream peers.

The college House system allows Stride students to take part in House activities and assemblies alongside their friends and peers from around the college.

The Post 16 course is based heavily on developing independent living skills. The students are taught many skills that they will need in day to day life.

“When Natasha started at Stride she had no confidence and very low self-esteem.  She has now overcome both these problems thanks to the care and dedication of the staff, who always have time for students and parents.”

"Our son Matthew Hodgson attended the 'Stride' unit of Rawlins Community College from September 2009 till July 2012. We can honestly say that Matthew's development throughout those 3 years was truly remarkable. He gained so much confidence and social skills that have set him up well for Loughborough College where he now attends.

Stride provided him with a warm, friendly and safe environment that allowed him to thrive. All the staff, including admin and support, are dedicated professionals who provide the best possible tuition and care that these young people need. In addition to the normal curriculum students were taken on visits to a whole variety of places enabling them to gain a better understanding  of the world they live in. We were particularly impressed by the way residential trips were organised so that Matthew and his peers had a very          valuable and enjoyable experience.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Stride to anyone with youngsters who have moderate to severe learning difficulties."
