Building schools for the future (BSF)
Things are starting to move quickly on the Building Schools for the future front and the local authority have issued a further press release on the most recent developments which is attached to this edition. On Monday, the governing body met to discuss the proposals and their potential impact upon learning for children and young people in the
Governors welcome the proposals to transform education within Loughborough. This is a tremendous opportunity for our future students to benefit from new and exciting facilities and there are elements of the proposals which are very positive.
Throughout the Loughborough area this will of course raise many questions and issues, especially from parents concerned about their children’s future. There will be a public meeting at Rawlins on 2 February at 6.30 and we urge as many people to attend as possible. This will be the best opportunity to raise issues with the Leicestershire County Council BSF team and have your voice heard. If you cannot make that meeting, others are being arranged at secondary schools which you are free to attend.
Staff and the governing body will be examining the two proposals to determine whether there is a preferred option and we would welcome input from parents and other stake holders as we do this. If you intend to contribute to the public consultation, we would appreciate it if you would send your comments to the college.
We want to assure you of two things. First that the education of our current students is and always will be our top priority and we will ensure that in this period of uncertainty the quality of learning is maintained and further strengthened. Second that in planning for the future we will work with all partners and stake holders to ensure the very best outcomes for students across the entire Loughborough and north Charnwood area.
