Musical Futures Champion School Status

We are delighted to announce that we have been successful in resubmitting our Musical Futures Champion School status by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. The award recognises the innovative teaching opportunities available to encourage independent and reflective learning, team work and positive participation, all of which are embedded throughout our music lessons.

Abigail D'Amore, Musical Futures Project Leader commented, "We are delighted to accept your school’s application as we feel that the Musical Futures work that you do in your school demonstrates very good practice.” After a recent observation she commented, "The kids were really lovely as well – and all seemed very positive about what they were doing!"

As one of only 20 schools nationally, we are charged with providing practical, hands-on training to teachers across the region and providing them with the principles of informal learning and an insight into how Musical Futures encourages a shift in the role of the teacher and how it can be implemented in any teaching situation. This will also include training the PGCE students (trainee teachers) at Nottingham Trent University. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the music students who have embraced this work so positively and, of course, to Michael Fenton.
