Year 8 and 9 Civil Rights Day Murals
Image Transfer/paint/pencil on MDF board
Using image transfer techniques, utilizing household emulsion and inkjet printouts; a group of year 8 and 9 students created murals based on Civil Rights. The images depict leading Civil Rights activists as well as iconic scenes of everyday people standing up for their Civil Rights; be it the right to vote, freedom of speech or even the right to be treated as an equal citizen in their own country. The students emphasised what society should strive for by emulating the words of Martin Luther King: ‘I have a dream’; and their own words ‘equality for all’.
